EXHIBITION at the Gallery Bludný Kámen in Opava
in collaboration with Zuzana Šklíbová
The exhibition “152,097,700” by Tomáš Roček and Zuzana Šklíbová is a video essay about light moving through the city. It captures the melancholic light atmosphere of a summer day. The surfaces reflecting light are not random but represent some of Opava’s main cultural-historical arteries. The city is deserted, empty, without people. The Earth orbits the Sun in an ellipse, and on the fourth of July, it reaches the farthest point in its journey at aphelion: over 152 million kilometers away. Time flows relatively; during meditation, it either stops or accelerates. The exhibition contemplates the light that moves away, approaches, changes intensity, and reflects throughout the day. Eyes wander, settling on a carpet, sipping tea, offering it to others. Darkness. In the dimness, ears open to the four-channel sound of the city, mixing and unraveling like a composition.
